Chelsea Thomas leads the firm’s real property practice: purchase and sale transactions, failure-to-disclose and boundary litigation, association disputes, and landlord and tenant matters. She also maintains the firm’s estate planning practice, with particular depth in special needs trusts, pet trusts, and charitable planning. Trained in all three branches of alternative dispute resolution, she accepts appointment as a mediator. Ms. Thomas received her J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and holds an LL.M. in Natural Resources Law and Environmental Policy. Representative matters are discussed in the firm’s legal blog. She is admitted in the state and federal courts of Colorado and before the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. She is fluent in French and enjoys travel with her husband and children.

C. Jordan Thomas’s practice centers on business formation, governance, and contract drafting, and on the disputes that follow from all three. Probate and estate administration, including contested matters, form a substantial part of his work, and his training in tax supports the firm’s complex estate tax planning. He also represents consumers, zealously, in cases concerning unfair practices, debt collection, and credit reporting. Mr. Thomas negotiated purchase contracts for over $100,000,000 in products and services for the information technology department of a Fortune 500 company. He received his J.D. from the University of Colorado with an emphasis in tax and entrepreneurial law, and on graduating served a Denver District Court judge with a civil docket. Mr. Thomas is admitted in the state and federal courts of Colorado. He enjoys travel with his family, has taught English in Bupyeong and Bundang, Korea, and studied sustainable development in Uppsala, Sweden.

Lee Berenato serves as of counsel to the firm, in a leadership and mentoring role: he prepares the firm’s attorneys and their cases for trial, and he brings to that work more than four decades of experience inside the Colorado courtroom and in the long preparation that precedes it. That practice has spanned domestic relations, criminal defense, and civil disputes, and it has left little he has not seen before. Mr. Berenato has been licensed in Colorado since 1984.

Cooper Motley joined The Thomas Law Group as a law clerk in 2025. His interests include real property, on both the transactional and litigation sides, entity formation and governance, and contract drafting, with a growing interest in consumer protection. He has clerked in the legal department of a national homebuilder, working across purchase and sale agreements, title commitments, leases, and closings, and for a Boulder civil practice on a general litigation docket. As a student he drafted wills, living wills, and medical powers of attorney for members of the White Earth Nation through the Tribal Wills Project, and served as a staff editor of the Transportation Law Journal. Mr. Motley received his J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2026 and sat for the Colorado bar examination that July; his licensure is expected in October 2026. He hikes, camps, plays tennis and golf, and produces music.
